Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Coming in at 10th is Mercedes’ executive saloon, the C-Class, beating the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Jaguar XE and the Lexus IS. With an entry price at just under £30,000 it’s a great car for those looking for a luxury saloon.

Audi A3

Arguably the premium hatchback, only rivalled by the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and the BMW 1 Series, the A3 creeps into the top 10 in ninth place. Whilst it might be pricier than the rest of the hatchbacks featured on the list, it is more likely to hold its value because of its premium brand status.

Volkswagen Polo

The first of two VW’s to feature, the Polo comes in eighth place. It is essentially a smaller and cheaper Golf, which is why it’s one of the most popular superminis around. The starting price for a Polo is a little more than a Vauxhall Corsa, and coupled with the fact that the GTI isn’t as fun to drive as its hot hatch competitors, this is probably why it isn’t selling as fast as the Corsa or the Fiesta.

Mini

With all sorts of Minis now available, it is no surprise that they’re selling fast. Stylish and cool, the Mini has been a favourite amongst those looking for a nippy hatchback since they were redesigned by BMW in the early noughties. The later generations have now gained a reputation for reliability and diversity, with SUV crossover, coupe and convertible variations available, as well as performance models.

Nissan Qashqai

Number six sees our first SUV, and in fact our first non-hatchback in the top ten fastest selling cars. Popular with families , the Qashqai combines the practicality of an SUV crossover, with the running costs of a family hatchback. We might not see the Qashqai reach the heights of sixth in the future however, due to growing concerns over its reliability.

Ford Focus

In at number five is the Ford Focus, and it’s not hard to see why. There’s countless versions of the popular family hatchback, from the economic EcoBoost engines, to the downright insane RS, there is an option for everyone.

Vauxhall Corsa

One of two Vauxhall’s to make the list and also the top five. With the option of efficiency with the diesel engine or the fun and power of the VXR version, there’s something for everyone. The three door sporty styling versions are still a big hit with young drivers who are looking for that sporty look without the power and the high insurance bill that comes with it. Yet another hatchback! Despite the emissions scandal the Golf is still one of the most popular models in the UK. The VW Golf has a wide range of models offered and therefore more to choose from for the consumer, from sporty offerings including the GTI and R versions, to the more eco-friendly base models.

Vauxhall Astra

The larger hatchback offered by Vauxhall comes in second, and again its placing in this month’s rankings isn’t a surprise. The latest version has received good reviews due to the car’s practicality, value for money and running costs, with no road tax to pay on the majority of the Astra models.

Ford Fiesta

In at Number one is the Ford Fiesta and it’s not hard to see why. There’s countless variations of the 2008 version. Despite it costing generally more to insure than its competitors, such as the Vauxhall Corsa and the Hyundai i20, it reigns supreme as the fastest selling car in November.
