Why Do I Need Kit Car Insurance?
Find out why you might need to consider Kit Car insurance.
Why Is It Important To Have Kit Car Insurance?
Firstly, you need kit car insurance because it is required by UK law, as per any type of motor vehicle. In addition, to legally drive a kit car on the road it has to pass an Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) test. These tests cost around £199 and are carried out by approved inspectors from the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency. However, if your kit car passes the IVA test, it shouldn’t need an MOT for another three years, however you will need to make sure it has the appropriate tax or SORN declaration.
If you take your kit car to track days, shows, exhibitions or rallies then you’ll need to have cover in place in case anything happens on the way to and from, or while at an event. Your kit is likely to be your pride and joy, so you don’t want to have invested all of that time and money only for something to happen and you risk losing it all.
