
When Will the Telematics Insurance Black Box Be Installed?
An experienced engineer will install the Black Box device in the car within seven days.
One of the first questions you will be asking after taking out a Telematics insurance policy will be: ‘When will it be installed?’ You may even be wondering if you can drive before the black box is installed in your vehicle.
When arranging the installation of our Telematics insurance Black Box device in your car, we will try to accommodate you as much as we can. When taking out your policy, our team will ask you for your preferred fitting date and this will be sent to the box fitters. The box fitters will then contact you directly and confirm the specific date and time for fitting. If you cannot make the fitting appointment, then you need to let the fitters know in advance or you may incur a penalty for a failed appointment. Appointments can be rearranged, however if a week has passed since you took out your Young Driver insurance with Think and you have not agreed upon a suitable date for an engineer to fit your box, then we may have to cancel your Telematics insurance policy.
During the time between taking out one of our Young Driver insurance policies and the black box being installed in your vehicle, the Excess on your policy will be higher due to the higher risk posed. Full details will be discussed with you at the point of sale. However once the telematics device has been installed, the Excess on your Black Box insurance policy will revert to the level agreed when you took your policy out, so it is in your best interest to arrange a date for your black box to be fitted as soon as possible.
In an effort to accommodate your needs, we offer our Black Box Installation service at both your home (where the car is registered) or at your workplace. Our installation service can only be done between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, which is why we offer the Black Box Installation service to be carried out at your place of work. In most cases it shouldn’t take our Black Box Installation Engineer more than an hour to install the telematics device. This is because the device is designed to be versatile enough to fit in almost any car, therefore making it relatively simple for our engineers to install.
Our engineers’ main aim is to install the Telematics device to your vehicle, however they will have on hand all the information you have given us about the car, to ensure they are installing the black box in the right vehicle. Therefore, if you have any modifications on the vehicle that you have not been truthful about or the vehicle isn’t in the same condition as you originally declared, they may report that to us and we will take any appropriate action.
